Research in antibiotic
therapy and antifungal
|
|
This research unit in antibiotic therapy
includes biochemists, bacteriologists and molecular biologists capable of
achieving in vitro and in vivo research. This unit would work in close
contact with the production units of proteins, of screening, of protéomique
and of medicinal chemistry, as described in more detail.

Research in the fields
of orphaned or neglected illnesses
|
|
In the form of close collaborations with
academic research, and inside a mixed structure "Nereis / public
institutions", it is desirable that such an entity does see the light
of day. The expertises of certain technological platforms could invest in
this type of research (combinative chemistry, HTS…)

Research in the heads of series
|
|
The role of this entity is
the discovery of new therapeutic targets, the identification of heads of
series and mechanisms of possible actions as well as the rapid optimisation
of these heads of series in innovating medicines. This unit must work in
close collaboration and in continuity with, on the one hand research units,
and on the other hand all the pre-clinic development units. Its main
strengths are in medicinal chemistry, the chemical development, the
production of proteins and the crystallography, the synthesis and the
analysis of natural products as well as the HTS.
The different laboratories comprising this
unit would in addition be able to work, within the context of specific
contracts, for external enterprises. It divides into:

Chemical medicine unit
|
|
Objective : research of hits, molecules
representative of a chemical series and whose activity is in accordance with
the TPP (target product profile), then (after generally one year) of leads,
molecules of moderate activity, but still improvable, in order to obtain (generally
after 16-18 months) an EDC, susceptible to enter in the pre clinic phases of
research.

Automated synthesis
unit |
|
Able
to supply the HTS : this participates in the discovery of hits. Via the
knowledge of the receptors, of homology of structure, of mechanisms of
action or of target proteins, its good working permits the yearly
synthesis of several thousands of targeted molecules.

Structural analysis
unit |
|
Objective : to evaluate the conformity between
the structure of the "theoretical" molecule and that synthesised
de facto by the chemists. Heavy investments (RMN, mass spectro) have been
made recently in this unit and constitute one of the major strengths of the
entity.

Assigned to supply the basic " scafolds

| Biotechnology
unit |

Composed of the service of expression of
the genes and of the production of proteins. Its activity consists in the
production, the purification and the analysis of the proteins obtained by
culture of animal cells or fermentation of micro oragnisms. The proteins
obtained are used as targets in the HTS and anti-infectious units as well
as for crystallography research. One of its major assets is its know-how
in preparative chromatography ranging from the milligram to several grams
of proteins
