| Partners | The partners envisaged, necessary to create and sustain the project, or to permit its continuity, can be both private and public, financiers and political bodies. Aventis must be a privileged partner and must ensure the launch of the activity by: supplying the economic and financial data used to elaborate a “business plan” – making available the premises and transferring the equipment – encouraging and respecting the choice of staff to integrate / not integrate into the project – permitting access to the chemical library – guaranteeing income to the new structure by contributions related to turnover, patents, products or in other ways – participate in the search for other partners, private investors or potential clients, which, in the long term, would become one of the principal sources of income. |

| Public partners |
With regard to public partners, it is necessary to identify the structures of research, capable of scientific cooperation and of the institutional organisations capable of backing activities of research or development. Among the research structures in France, organisations such as CNRS, INSERM or Pasteur Institute, could be considered. Research agreements could allow eventual sharing of benefits from compounds after the development within a Nereïs structure. There is a real need for international organisations such as the OMS and MSF to have access to structures of development. This activity could be financed by funds from different sources: Europe, ethical funds, ONG … It seems indispensable that there is a real political will to sustain this project. The last declarations of the Minister of Research, goes along with this. The desire that Nereïs constitutes a centre of training in the medicine professions is capable of permitting a contribution to its financing from the region or the department. In addition, such a structure would constitute an obvious contribution to an independent French and European pharmaceutical industry and, in this regard, a participation in the capital of public organisms such as the “Caisse des Dépôts” could be envisaged. The active participation of Aventis in the creation of such a structure, where the principles of medical ethics would be primordial, would contribute to the company image.
